Jhapa Nepal, 29 Jan 2009, Following the outbreak of bird flue in birds in Kakarvitta Jhapa, active surveillance of avian influenza is being done in the area by District Public Health Office. No suspected avian influenza case has been found during active surveillance of more than 100 households so far.

Jan 19, 2010 (Kathmandu). Nepal has announced as elimination of Leprosy at national level not at district level. Government of Nepal declared Nepal as Leprosy eliminated country. Ministry of Health and Population officially announced this in an official program in Kathmandu. Elimination of Leprosy is called when there is prevalence rate less than 1 per 10,000 population. But Terai districts have not achieved the goal of elimination since Terai districts are having more than 2 per 10,000 and they are leprosy hyperendemic districs.

Mental Health problem is a serious Public Health issue in Letang VDC, Morang. There are 10 suicides committed in Letang during year of 2068 reported by Letang Primary Health Care Centre. Most cases are adolescent girls with stress and having love affairs and other age groups are of alcohol and drug addicted, chronic diseases and stress….

Oct 6, 2010. Biratnagr 5 Basra tole has been declared as open defecation free zone today in a ceremony. Basra tole  is situated nearby Biratnagar airport.
