Jhapa Nepal, 29 Jan 2009, Following the outbreak of bird flue in birds in Kakarvitta Jhapa, active surveillance of avian influenza is being done in the area by District Public Health Office. No suspected avian influenza case has been found during active surveillance of more than 100 households so far. 

All focal persons expressed disagree on the currently published ‘Programme Performance Evaluation (FY 2066/67)’ of MoHP. 22 January 2009, Jhapa Nepal, More than 27000 chickens, ducks and pigeons have been killed and culled by Rapid Response Team in Kakarvitta Jhapa Nepal.

Surveillance of human bird flue has been started in the affected area. Households will be visited for suspected Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cases. Surveillance team has found a ILI case Gita Thapa from Dhulabari and kept under isolation and treatment in Mechi Zonal Hospital. Now her condition is normal.
