Swine Flu Border Screenings Relaxed
15 Oct. 2009, District Public Health Office Jhapa has stopped screening of visitors for Influenza A H1N1 which was started from July 2009 at Kakarvitta Jhapa. After indigenous cases of Swine Flu detected in Chitwan, Department of Health Services Kathmandu circulated guidelines and the Health Desk has been closed, said DPHO official. Action against Avian Influenza in Nepal
In response to outbreaks reported from Siliguri West Bengal India, Nepal has taken necessary actions to prevent transmission of Bird Flue in adjoining districts of Nepal. District Livestock Office (DLSO), Quarantine offices and local administration authorities in Jhapa and Morang districts now intensified their actions as checking import of poultry, chickens, birds and its products from cross border. Civil societies, poultry farmers and businessmen are also being active in this control program in Kakarvitta Jhapa.
