Music against Malaria
31 Jan 2010, Jhapa Nepal. A musical concert "Music against Malaria" successfully took place at Sanischare Jhapa. Singers Kunti Moktan, Rima Gurung, Nalina Chitrakar, Dipak Limbu and Tara Laksam were presenting their popular songs with useful public health messages to audience. Miss Nepal Sugarika KC and Mamphi Ghosh were anchoring the program attractively. The program was a part of awareness rrogram of Ministry of Health and Population which was supported by Global Fund, facilitated by PSI and coordinated by Human Welfare Council.

Delivery Service now Free in Nepal
Government of Nepal has decided to make delivery service free across the country from 14 January 2009. The cost covering normal and scissoring section will be reimbursed to all health institutions accordingly by Ministry of Health as Regional Director Dr N.P. KC said in a regional workshop today in Biratnagar.
In Nepal, Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is 283 per 100,000 live births in 2005 and which is expected to lower as 250 by the year 2009 in the country as government plan. However, the MMR is being considered still higher in the region.

LLIN free distribution in Jhapa Nepal
Bykaushal22 Feb 2010, Jhapa Nepal. Under Ministry of Health and Population program, this year's LLIN distribution program began today. Senior Public Health Administrator Nawa Raj Subba opened the program by distributing LLIN to locals at Khudunabari Jhapa today. 49,000 bednets will be distributed in Khudunabari VDC including refugee camp, Sanischare, Surunga and Jyamirgadhi VDCs this year. Global Fund has funded, PSI has facilited and Human Welfare Council has coordinated the program.
Surveillance of Avian Influenza
22 January 2009, Jhapa Nepal, More than 27000 chickens, ducks and pigeons have been killed and culled by Rapid Response Team in Kakarvitta Jhapa Nepal.
Surveillance of human bird flue has been started in the affected area. Households will be visited for suspected Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cases. Surveillance team has found a ILI case Gita Thapa from Dhulabari and kept under isolation and treatment in Mechi Zonal Hospital. Now her condition is normal.
