Bed Nets and Essential Drugs for Refugees

March 24, 2011. Morang. Ministry of Health and Population, District Public Health Office Morang has provided 290-bed nets (LLIN) and Essential drugs to fire-affected Bhutanese refugees of Sanischare Morang camp.

A team lead by DPHO Nawaraj Subba today visited the camp engulfed by fire at Sanischare refugee camp. A team has taken information about the health condition of refugees from Camp Incharge Champasing Rai and AMDA PHC Incharge Dr. Puspa Raj Sharma.  Total 278 huts were engulfed by fire on March 25, 2011. Sanischare SHP and Pathari SHP have been providing health care services to these refugees living in Sanischare camp according to Office. DPHO has given instructions to Incharges Tika Limbu and Murari Acharya to provide and facilitate additional health care and commodities to these fire affected refugees.

  • Surveillance of Avian Influenza

    22 January 2009, Jhapa Nepal, More than 27000 chickens, ducks and pigeons have been killed and culled by Rapid Response Team in Kakarvitta Jhapa Nepal.

    Surveillance of human bird flue has been started in the affected area. Households will be visited for suspected Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cases. Surveillance team has found a ILI case Gita Thapa from Dhulabari and kept under isolation and treatment in Mechi Zonal Hospital. Now her condition is normal.

  • Music against Malaria

    31 Jan 2010, Jhapa Nepal. A musical concert "Music against Malaria" successfully took place at Sanischare Jhapa. Singers Kunti Moktan, Rima Gurung, Nalina Chitrakar, Dipak Limbu and Tara Laksam were presenting their popular songs with useful public health messages to audience. Miss Nepal Sugarika KC and Mamphi Ghosh were anchoring the program attractively. The program was a part of awareness rrogram of Ministry of Health and Population which was supported by Global Fund, facilitated by PSI and coordinated by Human Welfare Council.

  • Leprosy Elimination at Country Level

    Jan 19, 2010 (Kathmandu). Nepal has announced as elimination of Leprosy at national level not at district level. Government of Nepal declared Nepal as Leprosy eliminated country. Ministry of Health and Population officially announced this in an official program in Kathmandu. Elimination of Leprosy is called when there is prevalence rate less than 1 per 10,000 population. But Terai districts have not achieved the goal of elimination since Terai districts are having more than 2 per 10,000 and they are leprosy hyperendemic districs.
