Action against Avian Influenza in Nepal
In response to outbreaks reported from Siliguri West Bengal India, Nepal has taken necessary actions to prevent transmission of Bird Flue in adjoining districts of Nepal. District Livestock Office (DLSO), Quarantine offices and local administration authorities in Jhapa and Morang districts now intensified their actions as checking import of poultry, chickens, birds and its products from cross border. Civil societies, poultry farmers and businessmen are also being active in this control program in Kakarvitta Jhapa.
District Public Health Office Jhapa (DPHO) has established a check post at Kakarvitta Jhapa to see Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) among visitors across border. Mechi Zonal Hospital is now assigned for laboratory investigation initiatives among suspected cases.
Meanwhile, a dozen of chicken and birds are died suddenly in farmer houses in Morang. DLSO Morang has taken laboratory samples from dead birds and sent for laboratory investigation in Kathmandu as local newspapers reported.
